This album contains three vocal improvisations performed live by Hanna Schörken at Soup & Sound #115 on February 14, 2019. This was the North American debut performance by Schörken. This recording is a companion to her duo with Andrew Drury (DTR 50020) which was recorded the following day in the same space without a live audience.

HANNA SCHÖRKEN (b. 1985) is a singer and improviser, currently based in Essen, Germany. Hanna’s music is influenced by literature and different languages as well as several extended stays in different parts of the world. Living in France, South America, Germany, and the Netherlands gave her the opportunity to discover different cultures and music. She studied Jazz Singing and Musicology and is involved in several projects in the field of improvised and experimental music, especially in Germany and France.
Hanna’s voice shows a great flexibility in range and expressions. On her debut solo album, You Told Me How to Dance (Creative Sources Recordings, 2018), she dives deep into an emotional soundscape of her voice and explores its natural effects and possibilities.
Soup & Sound is a house concert series begun in 2009 in the Brooklyn, NY home of Andrew Drury. Soup & Sound is a program of Continuum Culture & Arts, Inc. a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
